New rules on the obligations of service providers who offer sharing service of protected content online (es: You Tube) also came into force, as well as other important amendments and new rules to the other parts of the Italian Copyright Law.
The Legislative Decree 8 November 2021, n. 181 - which transposed Directive (EU) 2019/789 - entered into force on 14 December 2021 and introduced the new discipline of copyright and related rights relating to the online transmission and retransmission of radio and television content. In particular, the new rules incorporate the European provisions relating to ancillary online services, the application of the country of origin principle to the latter, the exercise of retransmission rights and the transmission of programs by direct entry.
