DPO support and verification activities in relation to the management of cloud services.

In the workshop dedicated to Data Protection Officers, Prof. Avv. Alessandro del Ninno discussed the role, function, objectives and practical activities of the DPO in the context of the selection and implementation of ICT services in the cloud, from the perspective of data protection compliance.

In particular, the following profiles were discussed:

• The checks to be performed to ascertain full compliance of IT supplies with data protection regulations
• The assessments and critical issues on the cloud service provider: the DPO's oversight
• The subjective role of the cloud service provider.
• The Code of Conduct for Data Protection of Cloud Infrastructure Services Providers in Europe (CISPE)
• The opinion of the DPO in the pre-contract, contracting and subsequent monitoring phase on the execution of contracts for the provision of IT services.
