ACN signs agreement with Accredia on cybersecurity accreditation management.
The National Cybersecurity Agency ('ACN') announced, on 14 November 2022, that it had signed a cooperation agreement with the Italian Accreditation Body, Accredia, to manage the accreditations of conformity assessment bodies, such as certification bodies, inspection bodies, and testing laboratories, which operate to ensure adequate information security within public and private entities.
Cybersecurity certifications are tools that enable the increase of the level of security of IT products and services available to citizens and businesses, within the Italian and European market. The Legislative Decree No. 123 of 3 August 2022 implemented Title III of Regulation (EU) 2019/881 of 17 April 2019 on ENISA (the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity) and on Information and Communications Technology Cybersecurity Certification ('Cybersecurity Act') and, accordingly, provided that certain types of certifications in the field of cybersecurity may be issued by conformity assessment bodies accredited by Accredia, which will work together with the ACN in monitoring and supervising the activities of such bodies.
